Co-Op Invests in Online Presence

To establish an online presence the Everyday Details cooperative decided to contract UNC Asheville student Julia Dorn, and photographer/videographer Andre Daugherty.

The headshots and videos found throughout the new website are the work of local professional media production specialist, Andre Daugherty. Andre is the owner and operator of Pro 16 Productions, based in Asheville, NC. Pro 16 Productions offers high-quality, custom video creation and commercial photography services.

The website itself was built by Julia Dorn as a UNC Asheville Community Engaged Scholar project in partnership with Self-Help Credit Union. Building the website was made possible by the Isaac Coleman grant.

Why do this? Establishing an online presence allows our customers to learn more about our mission and wide range of services.

Overall, the cooperative hopes that the website will bring in new customers and support its mission to provide high-quality wellness services to the Asheville-Buncombe community.

Worker-Owner Highlight: JéWana Grier-McEachin

JéWana is an essential part of the Everyday Details team, working in an administrative capacity for the cooperative while also serving as the Executive Director of Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA).

JéWana has a fantastic creative vision and excellent attention to detail. She sets a positive example for those around her and lights up every room she walks into! We are more than thrilled to have JéWana on our team.

2019 Isaac Coleman Grant Recipient

The Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA) is the proud recipient of the 2019 Isaac Coleman grant. Named for social justice champion Isaac Coleman, the Isaac Coleman Economic Community Investment plan calls for targeted investments in our communities that are currently working to champion equitable opportunity.

In their application, ABIPA shared that their ‘shared aspiration’ was to “develop a worker-owned co-op to address the social determinants of health, specifically around education and economics, by providing training to help community members secure Living Wage employment and entrepreneurship-based opportunities.” (BuncombeCounty.org)

In this way, ABIPA is able to partner with the Everyday Details cooperative team to improve the lives of their community members. The ‘anticipated outcomes’ of this project are increased employment, and improved social determinants of health.
